What to do with Deflated Inflatables

recycling pool toys

Got an inflatable boat that no longer floats? Or how about a shed full of waterproof accessories you no longer use? There are many ways of recycling pool toys to keep them out of the landfill.

Options for Recycling Pool Toys

Since many inflatables are made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride), they’re not typically accepted by standard curbside recycling programs. However, there are other eco-friendly options for reusing and recycling these products.

  1. Repair. Many products come with patch kits to fix small tears and holes.
  2. Donate. Items in good condition can be donated to family and friends or local charities and community centers.
  3. Specialized recycling programs. Some manufacturers and other organizations accept inflatables.
  4. Repurpose. Get creative by turning your inflatable into something new.

Before you get rid of that plastic pool, float, or beach ball, consider giving it a new life.

  • Ice bucket. Clean an old pool, fill it with ice, and keep beverages cool at your next BBQ.
  • Ball pit. Fill pool with soft balls for kids or pets to play in.
  • Camping mat. Large deflated inflatables make an excellent waterproof base in tents or as ground cover.
  • Drop cloth. Protect your floor during painting and other DIY projects, then easily rinse off any debris to use it again.
  • Accessories. Cut the waterproof fabric into different designs, such as a shower curtain, beach bag, or toiletry case and even unique storage or gift wrap.

If your inflatables are no longer useable and you’d rather get rid of it instead of finding another use, contact JDog Junk Removal & Hauling for a pickup. We can handle larger items comprised of mixed materials and take special care to dispose of them in an eco-friendly way. Keep your cool this summer by decluttering your shed or garage of old pool toys. Let JDog take care of the junk while you relax in your clean, clear space.
